This week’s already getting off to a fast start, with a number of early announcements of hardware intended for exhibition at this year’s IFA in Berlin. Right now we have a couple new entries from Acer, drawing the curtain back on both an Android tablet and a new Android smartphone.
The tablet is Acer’s 10.1-inch Iconia A3. It has a 1280 x 800 resolution, runs a quad-core 1.2GHz A7-based SoC (no word on which, though), and has a five-megapixel main camera. The A3′s available in either 16GB or 32GB configurations, both offering microSD expansion. The WiFi-only version of the tablet will arrive in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa next month for about $330, while a 3G version will follow in November for more like $400.
Then we have the Liquid S2, Acer’s new six-inch smartphone. That display is a full HD component, for a pixel density of 368ppi. The phone runs a Snapdragon 800, has 2GB of RAM, but surprisingly there’s only a single 16GB storage option (though with microSD expansion). It measures a hair under nine millimeters thick, and spots a 3300mAh battery.
