Review: ASUS VivoBook X202E

Asus Vivobook X202E: Good Buy for 26 k

The ASUS VivoBook X202E is one of the few Windows 8 laptops that we would actually recommend to our friends. It’s priced very well, especially if you know where to look for good deals.

Okay with that out of the way let’s jump into our feature!

The ASUS VivoBook X202E is a very compact machine. It measures 30.3cm x 20.0cm x 21.7mm and weighs 2.9 lbs. That’s already good especially if you compare it to other Windows 8 machines in this price category (they tend to weigh at least 4 lbs. and definitely thicker). You can easily slide in this laptop in and out of your bag or sleeve with no problem.

For the display, we get an 11.6-inch screen with resolution of 1366 x 768. Over-all quality is good as we got sharp and vibrant images, text, and video. Note that this is a touchscreen laptop which means you can navigate Windows 8 using your hands on the screen.

The VivoBook X202E is a full Windows 8 machine that delivers the complete Windows 8 experience. We tried a variety of applications and programs on it and most of the usual day-to-day ones worked very well. Usual stuff like browsing, communications (messaging), social networking, Microsoft OFfice (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word), and media playback were all great. We barely felt any major lag spikes or delays in the time we had the machine with us.

That said, the ASUS VivoBook X202E does have limitations. Gaming can prove to be this machine’s undoing, especially if you’re the type that likes playing graphics intensive titles like Civilization 5. It can run the usual Blizzard games like Diablo 3, StarCraft 2, and World of Warcraft but most likely on low-mid settings only.

You can order the ASUS VivoBook for Php26,995 here and here. It’s being sold slightly cheaper by Villman for Php24,999 but the ultimate deal is from Lazada at Php21,999.
